Al Hunt elaborates on ASP 'one-ranking' points system  6
19 December, 2009 : - - The Top 45 will start the 2010 year in the normal 48 formatted event. After event 5 'Trestles', this will change to a 36 formatted event. The lowest rated 12 guys will drop back to the WQS tour. The remaining guys will surf all remaining events for 2010 WT season.
WQS ratings solidified as final event closes at Sunset
6 December, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- What a great ending to the 2009 ASP WQS season with perfect 10-foot Sunset Beach surf and ASP World Tour No. 1 and 2 along with Hawaiians Sunny Garcia and Dusty Payne in the Final.
Yeomans & Munro the big movers on the 'QS this week
9 November, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Two big events, new winners and lots of movement in the ratings’ top end this week. Congratulations first to ASP Top 45 surfer Drew Courtney on his maiden ASP win at Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Drew out-pointed Brazil’s Bernardo Miranda in the Final with Eric Rebiere and Patrick Gudauskas in equal 3rd places.
Latest QS leads to sealed slots on 2010 Women’s Tour
12 October, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- A great win for Jessi Miley-Dyer in the last ASP WQS event for 2009 at the Rio Surf International has cemented her place back on the ASP Women’s World Tour for 2010.
WQS Situation Room: Brazilian jumps after latest event
5 October, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Renato Galvao from Brazil is back in the winner’s circle with his victory in the Local Motion Pro at Guaruja in Brazil. Renato’s only previous WQS win was back in 2004 at the 4* event in Newquay, England. Renato has now jumped from 70th to 37th on the ratings.
WQS ratings update: Willian Cardoso hot on a mission
15 September, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Willian Cardoso has taken his second win in three weeks at the Ferrolterra Movistar Classic at Pantin, Spain and moved from 31st to 13th in under a month on the ratings. Willian defeated fellow Brazilian Rodrigo Dornelles in the Final with Irelan’s Glen Hall and local Gony Zubizarreta taking out 3rd places.
Dan Ross hits 15,000 points on WQS & seals the deal
10 August, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Congratulations to current ASP WQS ratings’ leader Daniel Ross on his win in the ASP WQS 5-Star Relentless Boardmasters event in Newquay, Engand. Dan has jumped to nearly 15,000 points and is surely on the ASP Dream Tour next year. Runner-Up in the event was Txaber Trajola from the Basque area of Spain, and his second placing was by far his best career result, pushing him from 145th to 89th.
Neco Padaratz biggest mover after latest WQS events  1
20 July, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- What a great comeback to professional competition for Neco Padaratz. Neco injured his back severely after the 2008 Boost Mobile Pro at Trestles and has been out of competitive surfing until this year’s ASP WQS at Trestles. Since then, he has competed in the last two events in Brazil where last week he came second place.

29 June, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- For the second time in the history of the women’s tour, an event had to be cancelled without a winner. That’s twice in 535 events for the girls, and in the men, it has happened ten times in their 1367 events from 1976 to now. Way back in 1998, at the Lacanau Pro in France, was the first time for the girls, and now this week, at the Mr Price Pro Ballito in South Africa.

15 June, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- After a slow month in May for events, June has kicked off with the ASP WQS 6-Star PRIME SriLankan Airlines Pro in the Maldives, where Owen Wright and Pat Guduaskas went head to head in the high-scoring final. Even with a perfect 10-point ride Gudauskas, could not overcome Owen’s two high 9-plus pointers, which have skyrocketed him to a substantial lead on the ASP WQS ratings.
Joan Duru, Luke Munro climb major steps on 'QS ladder
11 May, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Congratulations to Adam Melling who was able to go one better than last year, where he came second to Adam Robertson in the O’Neill Coldwater Classic in Scotland, by defeating fellow Aussie Luke Munro in the Final of this year’s event in Thurso and moving into the No. 1 spot on the ASP WQS ratings.
Big movement in the WQS ratings after double six-stars
5 May, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Two major ASP WQS events completed this week in USA and Portugal with another well underway in Scotland. The ASP WQS 6-Star Prime 6.0 Lowers Pro at Trestles in California and ASP Grade-2 Oakley Pro Junior were completed with Hawaiians Fred Patacchia and Kai Barger the respective winners.

27 April, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Two major ASP WQS events, both sponsored in part or whole by Quiksilver, were completed this week with Brazilians taking both titles.

The Aussies were victorious in both the men’s and women’s divisions, Dan Ross out-pointing fellow Aussie Adam Melling in the men’s Final and local favorite Melanie Redman-Carr defeating Hawaii’s young hotshot Coco Ho.

24 March, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- After a week of perfect weather and small, but clean fun waves at Merewether, former ASP Dream Tour surfer from South Africa, Travis Logie narrowly out-pointed current ASP World Tour surfer Drew Courtney to win the Mark Richards Pro, while a local youngster Phillipa Anderson beat fellow Aussie Dimity Stoyle in the Maitland Toyota Open.
Al Hunt notes first Venezuelan to win an ASP WQS event
26 January, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Congratulations to Rafael Pereira for his win in the ASP WQS 2-Star Copa Movistar Pro in Lima, Peru. Rafael is the first surfer from Venezuela to ever win an ASP WQS event. He was able to fend off a serious challenge from local Peruvian Sabastian Alarcon in the man-on-man Final.
Al Hunt's first 2009 ASP wrap: Nate Curran still in #1 slot
19 January, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- 2009 has started off right where 2008 ended for Nathaniel Curran in the No. 1 spot on the ASP WQS. That’s seven months in No. 1 spot since the US Open ended in July 2008, which for sure is some sort of record.

The last event of the season, the ASP WQS 6-Star Prime O’Neill World Cup of surfing saw massive surf over the weekend, with wave heights in the twelve-to-fifteen foot range blasting through Sunset Bowl and dashing the hopes of several outside the bubble.
